  • Le Roman is an architecturally exquisite cafe created by sixth-generation Matsushima native Shinichi Chiba. It sits atop a hill in Saigyo Modoshi no Matsu Park, offering one of the finest views of Matsushima Bay. Completely reconstructed following the 2011 earthquake, today the cafe has completely glass walls to allow for unobstructed views. This chic cafe is ideal for a rest over tea. It serves light meals and desserts, like croque monsieur (a hot ham and cheese sandwich) and tarte tatin (an upside-down apple tart). Visitors can also step out onto the balcony for photographs or take a break from the elements in the free rest space on the first floor.
