A vegan macrobiotic cafe located in the heart of Sendai city. They offer Western as well as Japanese-style set meals. The Japanese-style set meals consist of brown rice, miso soup, and an assortment of vegetable-based sides. The Western-style sets are pasta and bread based, with a side of soup and/or salad. Everything on the menu is 100% vegan except for the katsuo-dusted onigiri (rice balls) and the cheesecake.
Don’t forget to check out the drink menu, which features traditional Japanese beverages hard to find elsewhere, some with medicinal properties, such as dandelion tea and azuki bean “coffee.” Ohisamaya also runs a small natural foods shop next door, a good place to pick up some healthy snacks for the road.
