Bar Sugar Shack is owned and operated by local graffiti artist D Bons and his wife. His work covers the walls of the establishment and can also be seen on shipping containers dotting the Onagawa coast. Live DJ shows on the weekends draw small crowds of hip young adults. D Bons is a big fan of American hip hop and can speak English well. He’s often out of sight working on other projects, but if you do happen to catch him at the bar you’ll have no trouble conversing.

The food is some of the best non-seafood in Onagawa: deep-fried goodness and fresh vegetables served alongside addictively savory house-made sauces.
