  • The Reborn-Art Festival is a unique opportunity for visitors to experience art, music, and food throughout various sites in the coastal areas of Oshika Peninsula and central Ishinomaki.

Over 40 artists will present contemporary-art pieces reflecting their vision of the region’s people, communities, and resilience following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The magnificent “White Deer (Oshika)” sculpture, which serves as the main image of the festival, stands on a beach hill overlooking the ocean and symbolizes the primal energy of the area.

Music and food are also central elements of the festival, with dining locals serving traditional dishes and events such as the Ishinomaki Food Adventure which allows visitors to explore local ingredients and cuisine with local fishermen and artists. Music performances including a concert on the beach and traditional Japanese festival dances will also be featured.

For more details about the event, read our interview with the festival founder and 2019 festival report here on Visit Miyagi, or see the event's official website.
