  • Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Tenshukaku gardens, a traditional Edo-style strolling garden set against the natural backdrop of the nearby mountains. Its most remarkable feature is the Boulder Garden, where dozens of boulders from Mount Osawa have tumbled down to over the centuries due to volcanic and seismic activity. Other highlights include a large koi pond and two hot spring footbaths. Turn a trip to the gardens into a day-long outing with a day-trip package that includes lunch and use of the on-site Ichitaro Hot Spring bathing facilities.

Autumn brings richly colored foliage to the gardens and the mountain backdrop, warm hues that contrast nicely with the gardens’ green moss. The gardens also host an award-winning illumination event every autumn.

Because the paths are paved and have no stairs, the gardens are accessible and enjoyable even for people with mobility challenges
