Konpo’s Factory is an offbeat toy store-cum-cardboard car showroom. The majority of the shop’s real estate is occupied by a full-scale cardboard reproduction of a Lamborghini, dubbed the “Damborghini.” The name is a play on words: “damboru” means “cardboard” in Japanese. The rest of the space is dedicated to Damborghini merchandise and a variety of novelties made of cardboard: dollhouses, toy guns, and more.
The Damborghini was created by local cardboard manufacturer Konno Konpou in an effort to attract the attention of local youths and entice them to stay and start careers in their hometown rather than moving away to a big city. Learn more about the Damborghini and the practical side of Konno Konpou cardboard at their English-language website.
